Despite many promises made and hundreds of crores spent by the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), the civic amenities in the country’s IT capital remain far from world-class. However, some activists in the city have resorted to novel ideas to protest the innumerable potholes and open manholes on public roads.
Weeks after artist Baadal Nanjundaswamy turned a huge pothole into a crocodile pond, a huge and scary anaconda was spotted slithering up a water-filled pothole with a human hand in its mouth.
The Namma Bengaluru Foundation (NBF), a group working for the betterment of the city, planted an anaconda into the pothole. The good news is that authorities are taking serious note of such protests and fixing the issues within no time.
Citizen Journalist Baadal Nanjundaswamy an artist from Bengaluru is making sure that the civic authorities not just take notice but also fix the problems plaguing the commuters. From cobwebs on manholes to demons on broken roads and dividers he is using art to grab the attention of authorities. Deepa Balakrishnan (@deepab18) reports.
